A 13 inch diameter UFO Sundial with Aliens and optional lighting evokes several themes associated with the UFO Phenomena and is sized for convenience to mount and display. This sundial has an inverse gnomon, meaning you read a light beam going through the craft projected on the dial face instead of a shadow. Customized for each order is the design for your latitude, and an optional motto of your choice (length limits apply. Default motto is "The truth is out there".) The dial shows true Solar Time when mounted properly North-South (corrections for Civil Time are provided in tabular form). Times between 11:00 to 12:00 and 12:00 to 1:00 are blocked out by the craft's own shadow.
How often are these craft found in our skies? Without invoking Alien technology, this innovative sundial is designed to float overhead, clearing the shadows of a courtyard or interference from shrubbery and enables the time to be read from the underside as well as conventionally from above. And instead of the more usual shadow-casting gnomon, this sundial inverts the gnomon so that the sharp edge of the sunbeam penetrating the craft is used for marking the hour. Available item is for 34.7 degrees: for accurate reading at other latitudes, the mounting can be tilted along the N-S axis by the difference between the installation latitude and the design latitude. A custom one for your latitude can be provided in 8 weeks. If a closer inspection is desired in the mounting, the hours are also marked upon the upper surface of the dial. Mounting and orientation instructions provided. Shipping shown is for the US.

This Penguin as a Sundial is unique in several ways. It solves the cramped or shaded courtyard problem, enables plenty of sky access even for single-story homes, and provides plenty of mounting options since it only needs a post. It also works from 0 to 70 degrees latitude, with both a Northern and Southern hemisphere version. The time is read at the shadow's edge on the backlit numbers, except for 12 noon when the 12 is fully illuminated. Made from aluminum, with fade-proof mineral paint, it will give you decades of service, whatever your conditions. Comes with an 18 inch post, so you'll need to supply the 1.625 or 2 inch diameter galvanized fence post for elevated mounting. Mounting and orientation instructions provided.

Lightweight for ease in mounting, this dial utilizes the calendar capability of sundials with the nodus shadow giving today’s date and showing the garden crops suitable for planting on this day. The planting times are supplied by the local Master Gardeners for this dial. Daylines are shown for the first of each month along with the Solstices and equinoxes, with the Equation of Time and longitude correction factor needed to convert the dial’s true local time to Civil time. This format would be fun for many other seasonal phenomena, like blooming cycles, fruit harvest dates, and bird migrations to name a few. If you are interested, contact us.
